About This Project

The Brief

McAndrew Martin were instructed to provide Design Specifications and a full, one-stop contract service to the Evangelical Church for the construction of an extension to the existing church to help increase congregation numbers and meet ancillary requirements for additional space.

Our Role

Our in-house Design Team liaised with all stakeholders and the Statutory Authorities in the formulation and execution of all Legal Requirements and compliance to the Client's brief. This included the production of Scheme options, detailed Drawings and Final Tender Documentation.

During the scheme, our role was enhanced to include all Construction Phase Project Management and Construction, Design and Management Co-ordination tasks as prescribed by the CDM 2007 Regulations.

The Challenges

The proposed construction site was close to a surgery. In addition to all the requirements of maintaining Health and Safety on site and for the general public, noise and dust pollution had to be strictly controlled at all times. Other major constraints included maintaining regular progress against a tight programme and keeping building costs within strict Budget parameters set by the Client.

Solutions

In order to meet the Client's expectations and to maintain strict Budgetary control during the Construction phase, the Project Team arranged for temporary accommodation to be placed on-site so that 'business-as-usual' operations could continue. This move - coupled with good communication between stakeholders, neighbours and the main contractor - made for a problem-free project.

Benefits and Results

At the end of the construction phase the Client was handed a new building with greatly improved facilities, a modern internal décor and an enhanced ambience which also included redecoration to the existing building. The completed project exceeded the Client's expectations and resulted in the provision of new business for McAndrew Martin through the aegis of the appointed Contractor with whom we were able to work with on other, future projects.
McAndrew Martin have shown that we are able to rise to any challenge or project to produce outstanding results.
