New contracts have recently been awarded for Buckingham Palace’s £369m M&E refurbishment programme.
Six leading firms have won the contracts to oversee the 10-year project: Arcadis, Arup, Capita, Gleeds, Mace and WSP.
According to Construction News, the work comes after a report warned that the palace faces a ‘very real danger of catastrophic failure leading to fire or flood’ because of outdated electrics, power and water systems.
Under the programme, around 161 km of electrical cabling, 32 km of heating pipework and 16 km of hot and cold water pipework are among the services that will be replaced.
