Newly released figures show that the Government’s Help to Buy initiative has helped more than one million people since its launch in 2012, writes our Director and Head of General Practice Ian Lee BSc FRICS.
Some 285,000 homeowners – the majority as first time buyers – have used one or more of the Help to Buy schemes, while 960,000 people have opened a Help to Buy ISA.
There are various elements to Help to Buy. They include the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme, which offers buyers up to 20% of a newly-built home’s costs so they only need to provide a 5% deposit.

Our golfing extravaganza will include 18 holes of golf, competitions, prizegiving, a dinner in the evening, raffle and charity auction.
The event is one of the premier golf days of its kind in Hampshire, London and the South with up to 100 professionals from property related businesses set to take part.
Rowan’s Hospice at Purbrook needs to raise £5m a year to provide its care services for people with life-limiting illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.
In 2015-2016, the hospice cared for 375 inpatients, providing 5,019 days of care. It also provided specialised care for 396 patients in their own homes.
One of its new initiatives to ensure it can deliver the very best care is the refurbishment of its 19 specialist in-patient rooms.
Some 31 years after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Ukraine, innovative structural engineering is playing a central role in making the site safer.
The decommissioning of the area includes major remediation work and construction of facilities to process and store spent fuel and radioactive waste.
